Our story

Two decades of precision joinery for Winelands homes and businesses.

Modern Kitchens & Cupboards is an owner-run cabinetmaking workshop delivering residential and commercial joinery from first measurement to final handover.

Modern Kitchens & Cupboards began as a small workshop building loose furniture for neighbours and the odd cupboard for a guest cottage. Today it is a hands-on owner-run business: one installer/owner on site, supported by two to three skilled workers in the workshop and on installations.

What has not changed is how we work. The same person who measures your home draws the cutting list and stands in your kitchen on installation day. It keeps us honest, and it means nothing gets lost between the quote and the finished job.

We serve Cape Winelands — most of our work still comes from clients who saw a neighbour's kitchen and asked who built it.

How we work

Craftsmanship philosophy

Measured by hand, twice

Every project starts with a site visit and a full measure-up. No template kitchens, no assumptions about your walls being square.

Built in our own workshop

We do not outsource. Doors, carcasses and drawers are machined, assembled and finished under our own roof in the Cape Winelands.

Timber we can stand behind

American white oak, kiaat, saligna and marine-grade board, paired with Blum and Hettich hardware carrying manufacturer guarantees.

Our process

From first measurement to handover

  1. 01

    Consultation & measure-up

We visit the site, take full measurements and talk through layout, finishes and budget in ZAR.

  2. 02

    Design & fixed quotation

You receive drawings and an itemised quote. Nothing goes into production until you are happy with both.

  3. 03

    Manufacture in the workshop

Carcasses, doors and drawers are machined, edged, assembled and finished by our small in-house team.

  4. 04

    Installation & handover

The owner-installer fits, levels and adjusts on site, cleans up daily, and walks you through care and guarantees.
